GiveBounty Games is a youth game design program for children ages 8 and up. Our goal is to create a safe, creative, and welcoming environment where every child can build something real and give back to their community. These guidelines exist to make the experience great for everyone.
👀 Supervision & Safety
All participants will be supervised by GiveBounty Games staff for the full duration of the session (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on May 30, 2026).
The session takes place at the Fairmount Community Library. As a 501(c)(3) cooperative effort, the FCL is dedicated to integrating disciplines in efforts to empower knowledge and inspire creativity for all those who enter. Participants will remain in the designated program space throughout.
A parent or guardian must be reachable by phone during the session. Please ensure the contact information on your enrollment form is accurate and that your phone is on.
Drop-off and pick-up is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early for drop-off at 1:00 PM and be on time for pick-up at 4:00 PM.
If a child needs to leave early, a parent or guardian must come in person to sign them out. We cannot release participants to anyone not listed as an emergency contact.
In case of a medical emergency, we will call 911 and notify you immediately. Please disclose any relevant medical conditions, allergies, or needs in the notes field of your enrollment form.
🤝 Participant Conduct
We want every child to feel respected, included, and excited. We ask participants to:
Be kind and supportive to other participants. Every child is working on something different; we celebrate that.
Listen to and follow instructions from GiveBounty Games staff during the session.
Stay in the designated program space unless accompanied by a staff member.
Take care of shared equipment. Participants are responsible for any damage caused by intentional misuse.
Bullying, harassment, or exclusionary behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in a child being removed from the session without refund.
🤖 Technology & AI Tools
The GiveBounty Game Jam Engine uses AI tools to help children build and publish their games. Here's what that means in practice:
All AI tool use is guided and supervised by the instructor. Children are not browsing the internet or interacting with AI independently.
Children direct the creative process; they make every meaningful decision about their game. AI is a production tool, not the author.
We teach children that AI is a powerful tool with real limitations, and that human judgment and creativity are irreplaceable. Critical thinking around AI output is part of the curriculum.
No personal data entered by participants is used to train AI models or retained beyond the session.
Games are reviewed by the instructor before publishing to ensure all content is appropriate.
🌐 Game Publishing & Privacy
Each participant's game will be published publicly at givebounty.org after the session. Games are attributed using first name and age only (e.g., "Directed by Alex").
Last names, school names, addresses, and other identifying information are never published.
Games will remain live on givebounty.org as long as GiveBounty Games operates. If you ever need a game removed, email us at davis@givebounty.org.
If you gave photo consent during enrollment, photos may appear on our website and social media. Photos are used to celebrate our participants and program, never for advertising purposes. Photos will not include last names or school affiliations.
You may opt out of photo consent at any time by emailing davis@givebounty.org. Future use of photos will be discontinued and previously published photos will be removed within 14 days of request.
💛 Donations and GiveBounties: How It Actually Works
The GiveBounty Season Pool is funded by a combination of business sponsors, individual donors, and a portion of every program tuition. Here's how money flows from the pool to local Fort Worth charities:
The pool is built before and during the season. Business sponsors commit $500 to $3,000 to the season pool. Individual donors can contribute any amount through givebounty.org. A portion of each family's $75 tuition also goes directly into the pool. No cause designation or naming rights are granted to any contributor.
During the session, children learn about in-game achievements. As part of designing their game, each child learns how GiveBounties work: specific in-game milestones built into their game that players can earn (rescuing the first animal, filling the food bank halfway, and so on). A GiveBounty tracker is built into every game, showing progress toward each milestone.
After the game goes live, plays earn GiveBounties. Every time someone plays a child's game and hits a milestone, a GiveBounty is earned against the season pool. Games are live and playable at givebounty.org/play after the May 30 session.
At season close, charities receive the donations. The season closes June 30, 2026. Within 10 days of season close, the pool distributes: 70% splits equally across every cause the kids chose, and 30% goes to the cause whose game earned the most GiveBounties. Results are published publicly at givebounty.org.
A portion of every tuition goes directly into the season pool alongside sponsor and individual donor contributions.
100% of the pool is distributed to the Fort Worth charities chosen by the kids. GiveBounty Games never takes a cut from the pool.
Program operating costs are covered by tuition and direct support, separately from the charity pool.
Sponsors and donors are acknowledged on givebounty.org. No naming rights or cause designation are granted to any contributor.
💳 Refunds & Cancellations
Full refunds are available up to 14 days before the session (May 16, 2026). Email davis@givebounty.org to request a refund.
Cancellations received between May 16 and May 29 will receive a 50% refund.
No refunds are issued for no-shows or same-day cancellations.
If GiveBounty Games cancels or reschedules the session for any reason, all participants will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to the rescheduled date.
A note from Davis: I'm a parent too, and I know the trust it takes to hand your child off to a program for an afternoon. I take that seriously. If you have any questions about safety, supervision, the technology we use, or anything else; please reach out before enrolling. I'm happy to talk.
